Is Smiling Actually Bad For You?

Wrinkles are known to be a natural part of the aging process. Smiling is known as the most important form of self-expression. Do the two have anything in common? It’s said that smiling can cause specific types of wrinkles on the face. That’s what we’re here to find out.

 

Genetics play a big part in determining our skin structure. Not only that but things like sun exposure, pollutants, and even what we put on our face are some factors. But does smiling really play a part in how they form? The answer isn’t as simple as a yes or no. Repeated facial expressions are what play a part in some form of wrinkles.

 

Whenever you form an expression on your face, this will form a groove beneath the surface, according to Mayo Clinic. Adding the fact that when your skin ages it loses its flexibility and can’t go back to place, this becomes a hard thing to target. This is when those grooves that are made become permanent on your face, wrinkles.

 

The bottom line is that we shouldn’t blame smiling for the wrinkles on our face. The blame should go to your skins elasticity and age. This means that for no reason should you stop smiling! It’s a great way to get serotonin and interact with many people. We would never want you to smile less just for the sake of your face. For that, we want to give you some tips to maybe help minimize the appearance of wrinkles on the face.

 

One of the things that you could do is make sure you protect your skin from the sun. More often then not, we are always out in the sun and the UV rays can have a negative effect on how our skin ages. Whether you’re sunbathing or not, the UV rays will still damage the skin. That’s why you should wear protective clothing and avoid being outside for too long. This means to also try to use products with built in sunscreen. It will provide the extra protection that your skin needs.

 

Another great thing that can help with wrinkles is moisturizer! When your skin is dry, this can lead to premature lines and wrinkles. The moisturizer will rehydrate the skin and make it easier to mask the appearance of the wrinkles that have formed. Keep in mind that whatever product you use will take a couple of weeks to really set in. if you don’t see any type of improvement at first, wait a while before making any final decisions.

 

Being able to keep a balanced diet and exercise routine is essential or overall health. When thinking about the fine lines and wrinkles, making sure that you watch what you’re eating plays a huge part. Eating specific things that contain certain vitamins can help protect your skin more. To be able to do this you should do some research and understand what kinds of foods are better for your skin.
