What is Blepharoplasty?

They say that eyes are the windows to the soul and with Blepharoplasty, that couldn’t be truer. I know this sounds like a long and difficult thing but this is a type of surgery that repairs droopy eyelids; maybe even excess skin. As you age, your eyelids lose elasticity, which causes the upper lids to droop. This is where the procedure comes in. While it is mainly a cosmetic thing, some patients have even said that it can be helpful in improving vision.

At this point some of you may be wondering why this surgery is even done. As you get older, you want to still look as young as some of you may feel. You don’t want to let age ruin the confidence you once had. This is mainly why a lot of people get it. Sometimes, the sagging skin can also get in the way of your vision so older people will use it to correct their vision.

Before going into any surgery, it’s important that you know the risks that it might bring. This is surgery on the eyes so there are multiple risks that can come along with it like:

  • Infection and Bleeding
  • Injury to Eye Muscles
  • Dry eyes
  • Skin Discoloration
  • Noticeable Scarring
  • Difficulty closing your eyes

At the end of the day, it’s important that you understand what you’re getting into. Weighting the pros and cons is something you should always do so that you can decide if this is the right surgery for you. There are so many people that express their satisfaction with this surgery because it bring their confidence back. Imagine looking younger than you did when you walked in? This will make anyone want to jump on the bandwagon.

Here at YMD we make sure that you are 100% satisfied with your service. Dr. Yielding has perfected this craft by using a laser beam instead of a scalpel to make the incisions. This will insure that the laser incisions are clean and extremely precise. She strives to make her patients look the way they want to feel and that’s important when it comes to the eyes. She believes the eyes are the key to youth so she makes sure that with her treatment; she achieves a more natural, balanced, and harmonious look.
